About Us
Small Acts. Lasting Change.
A Dash of Kindness exists to give children and families the knowledge and confidence to feed themselves well — using what they already have.
Our Mission
Teaching Children to Cook for Life
A Dash of Kindness is a nonprofit focused on culinary education for children and families. We teach children how to prepare affordable, nutritious meals using simple ingredients they already have at home.
We serve lower-income families and children, helping them become more confident in the kitchen while building practical life skills that go far beyond the stove.
We are not a food pantry. We are not a soup kitchen. We are a life-skills organization — and cooking is our teaching tool.
Our Mission Is To:
- ✓Teach children to cook
- ✓Teach budgeting through food
- ✓Teach nutrition and healthy habits
- ✓Reduce food waste
- ✓Build confidence and self-reliance
- ✓Strengthen family bonds
- ✓Teach resourcefulness and creativity
- ✓Encourage shared family meals
- ✓Create lifelong healthy habits
The Problem We Solve
Many Families Already Have Enough
The challenge isn't the groceries. It's the knowledge and confidence to use them.
The Real Barriers Are Often:
- →Not knowing what to cook
- →Lacking confidence in the kitchen
- →Missing foundational cooking knowledge
- →Believing healthy food requires expensive ingredients
- →No one ever taught them how
We Focus On:
- ✓Beans, rice, lentils, and pasta
- ✓Frozen and fresh vegetables
- ✓Pantry staples and affordable proteins
- ✓Soups, stews, and one-pot meals
- ✓Batch cooking and freezer meals
- ✓Leftovers done right
“I can make something good with what I already have.”
— The belief we instill in every child and family we serve

Looking Ahead
Our Long-Term Vision
A Dash of Kindness was built with room to grow. While culinary education will always be at our core, we envision expanding into a full life-skills ecosystem — including gardening, food preservation, budget shopping, nutrition literacy, meal planning, and even culinary careers and entrepreneurship.
Our name was chosen deliberately. It doesn't box us in. A dash of kindness can take many forms — and we intend to explore every one of them.
